New Horizons for Edale
Edale Ltd, UK’s leading printing and converting press manufacturer specialising in Commercial Security solutions, is moving.

Currently based in two industrial units in Romsey, Hampshire, Edale will be moving during the course of 2009 to a new custom-built headquarters factory in Whiteley, twenty miles away along the M27, between Southampton and Portsmouth.
“The company’s development over the last ten years has seen a major culture change,” explains Managing Director James Boughton. “From designing and manufacturing small to medium-sized flexographic presses, we have moved very firmly into the Commercial Security sector, with larger and more complex RFID and multi-layer machines. Edale’s four market sectors are Commercial Security, Flexographic Printing, Special Converting and Digital Printing.

“It is important that our image and brand positioning be reflected in our offices and factory, which we feel is not achieved in our current premises. The level of skills we have at Edale in our highly-experienced workforce, design team and R&D department, mean that the machines and services we offer are of a very high standard.”
“Our class-leading compact Alpha flexopress and modular inline presses are still very popular with label printers, both in the UK and overseas. The demand for the Alpha and Beta models alone caused us to take on extra premises back in 2004. With our larger Lambda and, soon to be launched, Gamma presses also finding approval amongst printers and converters all over the world, we also needed to consolidate our production.”
Planning permission for the 50,000 ft2 (4,650m2) facility at Whiteley has already been granted and groundworks are well under way. Edale will initially occupy 25,000 ft2 with expansion possibilities of an extra 7,000 ft2. “These are exciting times for Edale,” states James Boughton, “with our new factory and our 21st century-designed machinery, we are very much looking forward to the future.”
