Edale and AGFA Graphics at LabelExpo Europe 2009

Edale’s stand at LabelExpo 2009 will be structured around the four market sectors in which the company is most active: Digital Printing, Commercial Security, Converting & Coating and Flexographic Printing. Samples will be on display and Edale will be showing DVD quality video footage of their equipment performing in each sector.
“We have decided not to take any specific machines to the show this year,” says Managing Director James Boughton. “Rather than expect visitors to work out how a particular machine might be relevant to their needs, we feel that it’s more appropriate to concentrate on what they are hoping to achieve and then help them to find cost-effective solutions. Also, with the single exception of our Alpha compact flexopress, there’s no such thing as a ‘standard’ Edale machine. Each and every Beta, Lambda, and Gamma machine that leaves our factory has been custom-built to the customer’s special requirements.”
Sharing the stand and occupying the Digital Printing section of Edale’s display will be the company’s partner in this sector, AGFA Graphics. Edale manufactures web transport systems and provides a range of conventional printing and converting options for AGFA’s acclaimed :Dotrix Single Pass UV Ink Jet press.
For visitors wanting a fuller insight, Edale and AGFA will be staging workshops on the developments in single pass ink jet printing at the nearby :Dotrix factory. Live demonstrations will be provided, giving visitors the opportunity to see a :Dotrix ink jet solution and the new Edale Gamma flexo press running along side each other for the first time.
The :Dotrix is the only digital press that is able to print with high production capacity on a wide variety of substrates ranging from flexible foils from 20 micron, over self-adhesives to folding carton up to 600 micron, and this at a unique printing width of 63cm. The :Dotrix targets the flexible packaging, industrial label, folding carton & POP market segments for small to medium runs with a high degree of variable data.
The Gamma is the latest innovation to come from the Edale factory. With two independent servo drives on each print station, features such as pre-register, auto-register, print length control and a revolutionary print head design, the Gamma drastically reduces job change times and setup wastage. It also employs Edale’s “Pit-Stop Colour Change” system, enabling operators to effect a complete colour change in less than 2½ minutes per station. Available with web widths of up to 510 mm and with a maximum speed of 200 m/min, the Gamma is a high performer in all senses of the word.
